Registering with a specialist recruitment agency is one of the excellent ways to find out the perfect supply teaching job opportunity in your area. It would not be wrong to say that it is really hard to find suitable supply teaching positions. However, if you register with a recruitment agency working with many of the schools throughout your local area, you stand more chance of finding a suitable position.

No matter what kind of teaching requirements you have, a good agency is capable of offering different positions for any level of teaching. For instance, this should include primary and secondary school teaching. Primary would include Junior, Infant and Nursery teaching at the levels of Foundation, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. While secondary includes teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 across all curriculum subjects. For those who are looking for part time work the agency would be able to offer short term supply teaching too.

It is usual when the school might need to contact a supply teacher to fill a position immediately and often this is at very short notice. Sometimes this could be for the odd days work for instance if a member of their staff has called in sick for the day or has to attend a course or meeting. In such case, if you are registered with the agency then you could be offered that position at that time. Yes, of course, the recruitment agency is also able to fill mid-term positions which could be due to maternity leave or long term illness. Approaching long term, permanent and contracted teaching positions with the agency become much easier rather than looking and applying at your own.

The good thing is that a good recruitment agency works on the behalf of both the school and the teacher. While registering with the agency all teachers are fully vetted, this is now essential for the peace of mind of both the school and the parents. A good agency generally conducts a face-to-face interview with all teachers registering with them. This practice is also considered very important so that the supply teacher can be matched accurately with the school. The supply teacher and the school are both assigned an individual consultant who is on hand to make the whole process of recruitment and selection a great deal easier. There are many responsibilities an agency has to carry while helping both the schools and the teachers to fill the empty supply teaching position. In short, this would include arranging interviews and providing feedback on behalf of the school in order to match the most suitable teacher to the position.

Hi everyone,

I have a few more classes to go before I obtain an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies. Unfortunately I don’t have the financial means to further my education to get a bachelor’s degree at this time. However when I am employed I hope to further my education part-time while working.

Can someone with only an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies find employment as a paralegal? Or is it more likely that lawyers won’t hire me because I lack a bachelor’s degree?

I have a little real life experience as a freelance paralegal, but that’s about it. Do you think I wasted my education in this field?

You feel the same way that I do I have my degree now and it has been hard for me to get into this field and I know some paralegals who don’t even have a degree and they are working. I also have a little experience as a freelance paralegal and I was told by a staffing company that freelance would be my best way to go but I don’t have that kind of money at this time to do that. I need to work right now so I can go back and get my bachelor’s. Don’t feel bad you are not the only one who is having that problem

I am thinking of moving there and signing on with a few agencies from this August. I have 3 years primary experience (Y4) 2005 – 2008, although my most recent experience is T.E.F.L. I am just trying to work out a rough budget for living… any advice appreciated!

It is extremely hard to apply as a supply teacher in smaller cities even if you join several agencies. You will be lucky if you work 3 days a week. I attempted to move to Oxford from Canada and my agency promised that there will be tons of jobs and I would not have to worry. When we moved there we volunteered at a school and the teachers told us how much they hated agencies and they look for supply teachers through the borough and not agencies. A friend we met there lived there for a month and didn’t get 1 job. Therefore, be prepared in order to get jobs…you really have to promote yourself.

As for cities like London, Liverpool, Manchester. You WILL get supply teacher jobs because they are always short. We ended up ditching Oxford and moved to London to get the work experience.

I am writing for someone close to me who has a BS in business and an MA in Education (social studies); both degrees are from major universities. He also has outstanding GPA’s from both. I would tell your friend to ask a school I am sure it varies from state to state and I do know that you do not need your teaching license to teach at a college, or at least a private college.

First thing you should know is to decide where you want to go. It is important that people closest to you know where you are. It makes sense as you certainly do not wish to be on places where there is nobody around you. You would be lonely and adapting to the current situation will make it difficult.

It is also important that you know people from the area. This draws you closer to the country of your choice; hence you feel at home and secure. Knowing few people make you confident that you have people standing by who will help you in times of need.

Though you land jobs fast in this new country and the pay might be good but you need to take care of your rent, transportation, food and many more. I am currently a graduate student in a midwestern university studying higher education administration and student affairs. My degree prepares me for careers in administration positions in colleges and universities (my specialization is working w international students).

I have always been interested in living in Boston. Are there opportunities for jobs in higher ed in Boston? More or less than in other parts of the country?

Also, how is Boston for young professionals? Is there lots to do and plenty of younger people to meet?

well boston is full of colleges from ivy league schools to state schools, whether or not ehy are hiring is another question….as far as young professionals go, sure its a great pl;ace for young pro’s–its a very progressive forward thinking city
