Question by hornmaster426: Do all jobs for teaching english abroad begin in the fall?
I would like to apply for a job teaching English abroad in the near future, only this fall is a little too near. Spring would be an ideal time, but it seems like they’re all only available in the fall to coincide with the school year. Does anyone know if there are any positions available in the spring? Am I better off just to apply now?

Best answer:

Answer by ICAL
Most jobs come up at the beginning of the school year.

Having said that, teachers leave schools all the time so there’s a chance at any time of the year and some countries have different term times. Japanese schools, for example, start in Spring, Korea hires all year round, Thailand at the beginning of the year and so on.

So you can apply when you’re ready.

SPAIN: Young Spanish job seekers find their El Dorado – in Germany With youth unemployment currently at a jaw-dropping high of 43%, Spanish job seekers are looking abroad to find work. Many are looking towards Germany, following an agreement between Madrid and Berlin to help highly qualified individuals find a job.
Question by Kelly: Can I apply for teaching jobs in other states with my Nebraska teaching certificate?
I have earned a Nebraska Teaching Certificate and am currently searching for jobs in Nebraska as well as nearby states. What states will recognize or accept my Nebraska teaching certificate? Will I need to earn a new teaching certificate to apply for teaching jobs in other states?

Best answer:

Answer by George
Yes, with your Nebraska Teaching Certificate, you will be able to teach in surrounding states. However, they usually require that you have one or two courses in the history of the state to which you have emigrated. Good luck

Question by Kristina: Would teaching English overseas be better than doing a semester abroad?
I want to travel but I don’t know which is better: doing a semester abroad in another university or teaching English overseas. The pros of the university are that you have more exposure to the language. The cons are that it costs money. The pros of teaching English is that you get paid for it but the con is that you don’t have that much ready exposure.
(For frame of reference I want to teach/study in Korea where most individuals know passable English and would rather speak English to you than their native tongue).
Speaking from experience, which was/is more fulfilling?

Best answer:

Answer by ICAL
To teach overseas in general you’ll need a degree and a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate to get a visa and work.

The TEFL certificate can be taken either in-house or online at your own pace which is a much cheaper option (see http://icalweb.com).

Thus it’s unlikely you’ll find work unless you have completed university and have the degree.

“Who is the English Language Learner? How do I communicate with them? How do I prepare them for standardized tests? How do I teach them advanced reading skills when their vocabulary is so limited?” These are the questions raised by teachers facing the daunting task of teaching English Language Learners regular subject content in the general classroom. The No Child Left Behind policy (2001) raises the accountability for all our students including English Language Learners. This text is a concise and practical resource book that combines current research in English language learning with teaching application strategies for the preK-12th grade classroom. The teaching strategies are research based, time tested, classroom proven, and they work. Written for student teachers and experienced teachers new to English Language Learners, the author uses her own teaching experience in the Author Insight feature to offer practical suggestions. Other unique features of

I want to teach English in Shanghai so badly but I don’t know whether me and my wife should just go to shanghai on a tourist visa and cahnge visa status once I get there and find a job or just apply for a job online and start getting a work visa and start as soon as I get there. I want to go this summer, what times do they hire for summer? How much can I earn in Shanghai teaching English? I want alteast a salary of 8,000 RMB a month plus a furnished apartment. Is there any places like that hiring? Can you give me some hints on where to look. I go to eslcafe.com, eslplaza.com, and craigslist.com all the time but is there any other websites out there. What can one do to start teaching in Shanghai, what is your best advice?

Best answer:

Answer by Jim Z
Your salary will be variable, and depend on your experience level, and your degrees and certifications.

If you just have a bachelor’s degree and no teaching experience, you will get a basic entry level salary of 6000-8000 RMB per month, and a single apartment provided by the company.

English First has a very good reputation, and is a reputable company.

If you have a TEFL certification or TESOL Master’s Degree, you will get more than 10,000 RMB per month.

go to www. tefl.com and search teaching jobs in Shanghai. they are hiring now.

My Piano is a unique and fun way for kids ages 6 and up to learn how to play piano or keyboard! An animated character named Pam the Piano guides kids through over 100 lessons by former Juilliard School of Music instructor Irma Irene Justicia, M.A. My Piano covers the basics, such as proper hand position and rhythm, and moves on to reading music notation, playing songs and more. An animated keyboard shows kids where to put their fingers as the music plays, and the speed of the music can be adjusted with MIDI tracks so that each child can learn at his or her own pace. When used with a MIDI keyboard, kids get instant feedback on their playing, telling them which notes were played incorrectly and what should have been played instead. Separate audio tracks (left / right hand, full song / voice only) and colorful MIDI accompaniments provide exciting options to have fun with. My Piano is the complete program that will get your child playing piano! Built-in accessories: Digital Metronome: Ki

The focus in Module 1 was on the importance of contextualizing language. In Module 2, the focus is on the need to be aware of the specific language within that context. That is, the awareness, the attention, and the noticing of the particular features of language that add to learning. This means that it is important to pay attention to language form, for example, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. However, teaching these formal aspects of language through rules, exercises, memorization, and drills does not appear to be entirely effective. Research shows that selectively focusing on aspects of language use within a given context can be even more effective. Language awareness is the name for this kind of focus. And, because language awareness is a focus on the pragmatic uses of language, the language input must be in context. Two additional requirements of language awareness are that: * The context should reflect language that learners are most likely to use. * And, language practice in context should be accompanied by conscious effort and reflection on that practice. An innovative offering from the Office of English Language Programs, Shaping the Way We Teach English, is a 14-module teacher training video series developed and produced in cooperation with the University of Oregon.

I would like to have some sort of English textbook for kids, cause I can’t just start teaching grammar, i would need something with games and some easy conversations. Is there any chance I might find something to download on the Internet? I have downloaded a few books and worksheets but most of them do not seem quite good for teaching children. Thanks for your help!
