Question by ruhappy: Where do you start when teaching English to someone?
I want to teach my boyfriend English a little more formally. He speaks Spanish, and understands almost all of what I say in English. He claims, however, not to understand pronunciation and some verb rules (especially past tense). How to you start teaching phonics and where do you go from there?

I would recommend starting with the alphabet. Move on to slightly bigger words and use flashcards. Once he understands the spelling of words then it will be easier to transition into the grammar part of English.
